Hawke's Bay Sandblasting

Hawke’s Bay Sandblasting is doing a great job of extending the life of many structural buildings throughout the North Island including the Hawke’s Bay Opera House and the new Elephant Hill Winery.

Operations Manager Brad Patton says the company is well equipped for small to large sandblasting jobs.

On site the company has a blasting booth, two paint booths and dry storage areas. They are able to also provide zinc arc metal spraying, with the most modern equipment available at their disposal to undertake a full range of services.

Additionally, it also has a mobile unit able to undertake off site work.

“We’re doing everything from wheel rims to huge structural buildings such as the Hastings and Napier Mitre 10’s to more complex jobs such as the Opera House with its archway frames.”

Brad says the company also specialises in restoring old steel structures, eliminating any corrosion and adding a protective coating.

Sandblasting protective coatings can last from six months through to 40 years with the maximum spray being 400 microns.

A decision on the type of coating is made by the design engineers and corrosive engineers taking the atmospheric conditions into consideration. Hawke’s Bay Sandblasting is based on-site at Patton Engineering and is part of the one-stop shop that is now setting Patton’s apart from other engineering firms. Brad adds that the benefits to a client include improved efficiency and less handling.

“Patton’s design and build and we sort the protective coatings and this means that the construction process is more streamlined. For example structural frames don’t have to go to another site to be sandblasted and coated before going to the construction site and this is a huge benefit.”

Hawke’s Bay Sandblasting also caters for the residential market including refurbishing swimming pools and concrete walls and floors.
