Our History

Established by George Patton in 1952, Patton Engineering Ltd was developed to provide superior precision and general engineering. George was the sole employee, operating the small workshop with enthusiasm and drive. A Mitchell lathe was the main piece of equipment.

Over time, the business developed a manufacturing section, providing bulldozer blades, forklifts and tilting counter-balance doors. The completion of larger projects established Patton Engineering Ltd with a reputation of supplying excellent customer service and project management.

When George retired in 1980, his sons Gavin and Mike, purchased the business, moving its focus to medium heavy machining and fabrication. At this time, Patton Engineering Ltd had approximately 15 staff, several lathes and cutting machines. Patton Engineering Ltd was now seen as the leading supplier of high quality engineering in Hawke’s Bay.

Being the Best

Today, Patton Engineering Ltd continues to lead the way. The company employs 60 staff and uses the most current technology. In March 2005 Patton Engineering relocated from Stoneycroft Road in Hastings to a new 4,400sqm purpose built premises in Whakatu, Hawke's Bay. This site has extensive yards to ensure efficient flow of bolth incoming and outgoing products, eliminating any double handling.

By adapting to changing times, meeting customer needs and utilising the latest technology, Patton Engineering Ltd continues to remain at the forefront of the engineering industry.
