New light towers at Port

Patton Engineering gave light to the new $45 million berth at the Port of Napier.

Patton’s constructed five 33 metre lighting towers for the multi-purpose berth which was officially opened by Minister of Transport Steven Joyce in November.

Patton’s were commissioned to build the towers based on our expertise in fabricating, surface finishing and having the lights ready to deadline.

The berth development was planned to be completed by March 2010 but finished well ahead of schedule.

The tower columns were fabricated from spiral wound pipe. The towers were finished with a sophisticated three coat corrosion protection system required for the harsh coastal marine environment.

Another feature of the towers is the installation of a proprietary Railock Fall Arrest System to protect any individuals going up the towers.
